B/W and Color LCD Modules

EM produces Customer Specific & Standard LCD Modules (monochrome and full color) for a diverse range of applications using a variety of different LCD and assembly technologies.

TN, STN, FSTN Technologies
■ For segmented or alphanumeric / graphic displays
■ TN with colour segments and background other than B/W

CSTN, TFT technologies
■ For graphic displays up to 5'' diagonal size

Glass substrate of 0.3mm, but also 0.55, 0.7 and 1.1mm
■ Thin glass gives the final product slimmer profile and better viewability. EM produces LCDs with 2 x 0.3mm glass compared to the industry standard of 2 x 0.55, 0.7 and 1.1mm glass, which may be too thick for many applications.

Special technologies
■ Gluing LCDs together with high optical characteristics

Shaped LCDs
EM LCDs are not bound to the traditionnal rectangular shape. They can be delivered in several shapes ideally tailored to the space or design requirements of the customer's product. Sometimes, rectangular LCDs consume to much space or surface; custom shaped LCD offer an elegant alternative. EM has developed manufacturing techniques which allow the production of glass LCDs in several shapes.

Holes
Some applications require a pass through in the LCD glass for mechanical and electrical connections. EM is able to make holes in the LCD glass itself.

Customer specific
Most of EM's LCD products are customer specific designs. EM is used to accomodate to the particular requests and to engineer solutions, which optimally fit the customer's requirements. For TFT solutions, the customization is performed around standard TFT panels.

■ With integrated back-light or light-guide
■ With EM or any other IC driver (LCD Drivers or microcontrollers)
■ Subassembly into custom-injected plastic parts

Light-guides
■ Back-light (LED, CCFL, EL) or Light-guide features can be integrated in the LCD Module.

Touch screens
■ LCD Modules can be integrated with several types of touch screens (resistive, capacitive,…etc).

Typical lead times for a new LCD module
■ 2 weeks to get the counter drawings
■ 5 to 10 weeks to get the samples after drawing approval
■ 6 to 12 weeks to get the first production after sample approval
